When an open wooden crate is suitable

An open crate provides a rigid protective frame while allowing visibility, counting and ventilation. Machinery with impact-sensitive surfaces may also require wrapping, cushioning or internal blocking. The timber frame is therefore one component of a complete packing plan rather than a stand-alone solution.

Information needed before planning the crate

  • Actual cargo dimensions, mass and photographs.
  • Lifting positions, load-bearing points and vulnerable components.
  • Transport mode, route and expected storage period.
  • Fumigation or treated-timber marking requirements for export shipments.
  • Site working conditions and agreed acceptance criteria.

Inspection before handover

Check base stability, frame connections, clearance around the cargo, cushioning positions and required handling marks. The video provides a reference view of a site workflow. Sancopack defines the final specification only after the information for the individual shipment has been reviewed.
